Description: The County Librarian provides professional guidance to a staff of twenty-one and is directly responsible for all public services, budget management, and internal operations (including facilities maintenance). The County Librarian is the library's ambassador and is responsible for promoting the library and its services in the Community. Additionally, the position works with the local town boards, the County Commissioners and others to develop library budgets and promote an excellent working relationship with elected officials. The County Librarian directly supervises five departmental managers, including a part-time branch manager. Wilkes County Public Library is part of the Appalachian Regional Library, and the County Librarian reports to the Regional Library Director and the Local and Regional Boards. 

Qualifications: A master's degree in library science from an ALA accredited library science program, with a minimum of three years public library admirative/management experience. The successful candidate must have excellent oral and written communications skills, must have the ability to plan and direct the work of staff carrying out all library functions. Budget development and management experience is required. The successful candidate must be eligible for or hold NC Public Librarian Certification. 

Salary: $50,000
