Engage directly with our youngest Wake County citizens as a Youth Services Librarian. From delivering captivating programs, to offering personalized service and working on a service desk, you'll create unforgettable experiences that inspire a lifelong love of reading and learning.
Key Responsibilities of a Youth Services Librarian:
Create Engaging Programs:
Design and implement dynamic programs for children of all ages.
Lead Confidently:
Take charge in the absence of the library manager(s) to ensure smooth operations of the library.
Be a support and resource for your colleagues.
Collaborate with Passion:
Brainstorm, plan and execute programs, projects and maintain collections.
Build Strong Community:
Work with managers and peers to establish and nurture strong relationships with the community.
Promote library services and forge relationships that enhance our programs and services.
Work directly with the public providing excellent customer service, reference and readers advisory services.
QUALIFICATIONS
The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
Master's degree in Librarianship or related field: MLS, MLIS, MIS, ML from an ALA accredited program or NC program
No specific experience required
Equivalent education and experience are NOT accepted

Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Coursework in youth services
One year of professional librarian experience working with children
Spanish language skills
