DESCRIPTION

The North Carolina State Library is seeking an enthusiastic Outreach Librarian to join our team! The Outreach Librarian is a part of the
Content & Information Delivery Branch of the Government & Heritage Library and primarily develops and presents outreach activities, training,
and public programs for GHL audiences, in addition to fostering collaborative relationships with internal and external partners. This position
works occasional Saturdays staffing the Reference Desk, as well as some weekend or evening hours for outreach events or travel. This
position has the potential for hybrid work with a minimum of three days per week onsite.

• Planning, developing, and conducting outreach activities, training, and public programs for varied audiences.
• Leading the library’s cross-functional Outreach Team, responsible for identifying best outreach strategies for targeted audiences, setting
annual program goals and activities and evaluating program outcomes/impact.
• Coordinating with the Library of NC communications team to create print and online informational, promotional, and outreach content for
general and targeted audiences.
• Coordinating staff outreach activities for specific GHL programs and events. Working with the Library of NC communications team on
requests for program/event marketing collateral to ensure quality control and consistency in messaging, branding, and presentation.
• Collaborating with the Education & Instruction Librarian on GHL’s educational programs and training activities for internal audiences,
DNCR/state government audiences, and external audiences (K-12 institutions, other libraries, and genealogical and historical research
organizations).
• Participating in the library’s public service desk rotation weekly and on occasional Saturdays.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing and/or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience developing outreach programs, collaborative partnerships, and training, including workshops, webinars, educational programs, and/or presentations for internal and/or external audiences
  • Demonstrated experience with project planning from inception to completion, including organization, stakeholder communication, and/or time management.
  • Demonstrated experience prioritizing and/or managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated experience providing reference and/or research assistance in academic, public, or special libraries supporting researchers in one of the following disciplines: North Carolina history, government, and/or family history.
  • Master's degree in library and information science or a related discipline from an appropriately accredited institution
  • and
  • Two years of professional librarian experience;
  • or
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.

SALARY: Job Salary (optional): $47,703-$59,000
