DESCRIPTION
Performs responsible para-professional work in the High Point Public Library's Research Services division. Provides computer and technology assistance, reference service, and related activities in the Public Computing Center. Maintains print periodicals, including organizing, updating, and assisting patrons with access. Collaborates with other library staff to produce adult-services programming. Participates in outreach with the library’s Technology Van, visiting designated areas of the High Point community. Takes responsibility, along with other staff members, for daily operation of the Public Computing Center. This includes accepting cash, check, and credit card payments for printing and recording monetary transactions accurately. Participates in other related work as required. Work is performed under the regular supervision of the Research Services Supervisor. This is a non-supervisory position. This is a 34-hour-per-week, part-time position with benefits package.
QUALIFICATIONS
Formal education, including a bachelor’s degree from an accredited academic institution is required. A cover letter and resume are required. Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license and insurance.
Must have solid customer service skills, communication skills and a desire to interact with and help people. Work experience in use of various computers and smartphones is required. Must be able to read and interpret reference material in library records. Must be able to follow written and oral instructions. Must have and maintain thorough knowledge of current computer software and new trending technologies.
SALARY
$19.90-$25.50 / HOURLY
