Tab/Accordion Items

  • The loan period for all kits is a minimum of 2 weeks and a maximum of 8 weeks, with additional buffer periods of 1 week to pick up and 1 week to drop off automatically included in your reservation. For example, should you request a 2 week-reservation, you will be honored with a total 4 week-checkout period to allow for pickup and drop off at the Library of North Carolina.
  • Borrowers may request one kit from each Category, with exception to NASA @ My Library; these kits for multi-generational audiences and younger audiences may be borrowed simultaneously.
  • Borrowers must schedule a time to retrieve and return all kits on Mondays at the loading dock of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources building at 109 E Jones St, Raleigh, NC 27601. Library Development staff will confirm your reservation with detailed instructions.

Confirming an item's availability:

Please remember that all reservations require picking up and returning borrowed items on Mondays at the Library of North Carolina. Therefore, the Equipment Booking Catalog only shows an item as available on Mondays. If you have trouble finding an item's availability on the Equipment Booking Catalog's calendar, the "Next Available" button will bring you to the next possible checkout date.

As an example, the calendar below does not readily show a possible checkout time:

An example of where to find the Equipment Booking Catalog's "Next Available" feature.

By using the "Next Available" feature, as circled above, you will automatically be brought to the next available booking period. Availability will always occur on a Monday. Selecting "Next Available" in this example exercise would then shift the calendar to the next available Monday for checkout:

Reserving multiple items:

It is possible to reserve multiple items under one booking. When reserving multiple items, you will find that the Equipment Booking Catalog will automatically require that all items be checked out and returned on the same date.

Reservation confirmations:

Please allow up to 24 hours after placing your reservation for Library of North Carolina staff to approve your request. Anticipate receiving automated emails from alerts@mail.libcal.com during your booking process. For any questions or assistance, you may contact Scott Frawley at scott.frawley@dncr.nc.gov
